Feng Shui Kitchen

The kitchen is considered to be the heart of the home and in Feng Shui it represents wealth and prosperity for the family.

Stove Placement

In Feng Shui the stove symbolizes wealth and its placement is of great importance. The ideal placement is in an island in the center of the kitchen, enabling the cook to see all around.   Most kitchen layouts have the stove against a wall where the cook’s back is often to the door, placing the cook in a vulnerable position.   This is considered bad  Feng Shui, because a startled cook can spoil the food or become injured.

To remedy this you can place a mirror or reflective tile at the back of the stove so you can see behind you.   This also has the added benefit of visually doubling the number of burners on the stove, and therefore increases the potential for wealth.

In Feng Shui because the stove represents the fire element and the sink represents the water element,  it is recommended that you do not place them side-by-side or opposite one another.   (Water controls or puts out fire).

Stove Condition

The stove must also be kept clean and in good working condition. Make a point of using all the burners regularly, so as to not miss out on any potential source of  wealth.

Clear Clutter

Keep the kitchen free from clutter.  Remove all unnecessary and broken items. Keep knives in a drawer or block rather than on a rack, as exposed sharp items are bad Feng Shui.
